Savitri Girls’ College

About the Department

The English Department is as old as the College, having its inception in 1972 . English Hons was started in 2003 and the Department has been instrumental in the progress of the students enabling first generation learners to become self sufficient and resourceful. The Department currently offers Four Year Major and Three Year MDC program under University of Calcutta NEP CCF Module. The Department currently has three full timers and one SACT teacher and the Department always takes bold and innovative measures to make learning interesting and simultaneously also develops a critical outlook in the students.

1. Lack of infrastructure primarily related to large classrooms needed for Compulsory courses like AEC

2. Lack of Motivation in students especially the total apathy of their families towards education

3. Pressure on students to get married early, this pressure is created by most families

4. Less time to complete entire syllabus in the CCF Semester system

5. Students not using technology to learn better or faster but rather wasting time.

6. Apathy towards buying books, parents feel books are not required
