Savtri Girls’ College is a premier girls’ college in north Kolkata dedicated to quality education and holistic development of young minds. Mr. H.K.Jhajharia, a social activist and secretary of the charitable trust and Mr. M.L.Jalan an eminent industrialist instituted this college 14th Sep 1972, a liberal art college for women whose initial purpose to provide higher education. It provides an excellent academic environment and adheres to the highest moral principles. The student profile now indicates heterogeneous mixture from the different strata of the society. Over the past four decades the college as perceived academic expansion and has introduced a number of courses under the aegis of the affiliating University of Calcutta. At present the college is offering courses under both Humanities and Commerce stream. The college has been accredited with ‘Grade B’ by the NAAC in second circle successfully. Today, with more than 1000 students Savitri Girls’ College is bringing with confidence to explore new vistas of knowledge and tries to change the atmosphere in favour of the development of educational institutional in Central Kolkata.
