An Introduction

SavitriGirls’ College was established on September 14, 1972 by Savitri Educational Charitable Trust. Late H. K. Jhajharia and M. L. Jalan became the Secretary and President of the College after its inception in 1972.
The purpose of the institution is to empower women through education and other developmental activities. To this end we try to devise a wide range of interesting and fruitful programmes which would in turn promote an atmosphere of intellectual alertness and good moral health. We aim to empower girls who come to us from less fortunate and privileged backgrounds so that they may recognise their potential and work towards becoming responsible citizens of the country.

Savitri Girls’ College, affiliated to the University of Calcutta, was established by the Savitri Educational Charitable Trust on September 14th 1972, to make its students self sufficient, socially conscious and academically sound citizens. Located in the prominent Burrabazar locality in central Kolkata, the college that was begun to cater to the local populace now attracts students from all over the city. The college offers programmes and courses (within the scope of the university curriculum) that reflect the goals and the objectives of the institution.
